This Little Light of Mine
Ryan and I met playing recreational kickball in Orlando in January of 2013. For both of us, our relationship started out as fascination and friendship, that culminated in us beginning to date because we "wanted to study that person." He asked me out a few times, and on my birthday I finally said yes and the adventure hasn't stopped. With our shared passions for travel, active lifestyles and getting our of our comfort zone that spirit of exploration is at the root of our relationship.
Fast forward to last November we visited the St. Augustine Lighthouse and due to my liking, ok obsession, of checking off bucket lists, I decided that I wanted us to go and visit every lighthouse in the USA.
In our traveling mindset, Ryan and I were planning to go on one of our little weekend getaways to Savannah, GA and on the way up there I noted that they have a lighthouse and it "would be neat" if we took a few minutes to go visit. Ryan laughed as he was planning this all along. So right after checking into our hotel, we drove up to Tybee Island for our beach day, and to our dismay the road was closed. I was fine with it, but little did I know that the engagement ring was in Ryan's pocket. We enjoyed the rest of the weekend like any other vacation of ours and then decided that with the time left we would "just stop by the lighthouse" on our way out of town.
Instead, I was in for the surprise of a lifetime. After exploring the lighthouse grounds, climbing the tower, Ryan caught me completely off guard by dropping for "one last picture" in front of the lighthouse where he proposed with a ring that he designed himself.
